Course Overview:
Troubleshooting:
Modern laptops are more complicated than ever, with many more functions
and devices integrated. It has become more difficult to determine
whether problems are hardware or software related. You'll learn how to
distinguish hardware problems from software problems, and how to solve
them quickly and efficiently. Understanding device drivers and their
relationship to hardware is also a must for advanced troubleshooting.
Showing how to access BIOS Setup, knowing what the settings mean, and
how to properly configure them are also important.
Upgrading and Repairing:
You will learn how to identify failed components unique to laptops and
replace them, including keyboards, displays and pointing devices.
You will also learn how to upgrade laptops, including processors,
hard drives, memory, optical drives and PCIe Mini/MiniPCI cards.
- Turn simple repairs into inexpensive upgrades, with newer high performance parts which are backwards compatible.
- Add additional features and functions to a laptop.
- Tips and tricks for easily and efficiently disassembling and reassembling laptops.
Laptop storage and security:
Learn how to secure data on laptops in case of loss or theft. Learn
simple techniques for recovering data from damaged systems, hard drives
and optical discs.
Desktop replacement:
Learn how to use a laptop as a desktop replacement rather than having
to maintain a laptop and a desktop system. Learn about docking solutions
and ways to expand a laptop to use multiple monitors, desktop style
expansion cards and use high performance external esata storage.
